Why this project.

This is hedgerow country that lost its hedgerows. Jalo’s carbon-negative pellet plant in Almelo runs on the residues a living landscape produces, which ties the plant’s supply to the state of the land around it.

Hedgerows, alley crops and native trees go back in across the region’s farms, designed with Wageningen University. Farmers borrow at no interest, and the repayments finance the next planting in the same landscape.
